Laser therapy of nail mycosis
Nail fungus treatment Stuttgart
Nail mycosis (nail fungus) is a mycotic infection of the toenails or finger nails that frequently occurs in our population. In particular, patients with metabolic or immune disorders suffer these effects, but also many athletes and people who often wear tight footwear are affected. Typically this is not – as often wrongly assumed – a hygienic problem but a weak point in the nail.
Therapeutically there are different possibilities to consider. Frequently used nail lacquers and tinctures often fail to achieve the desired effect as they only reach and kill some part of the fungal spores.
Medical treatment with so-called antimycotics features a significantly higher success rate, but this therapy often has to be terminated ahead of schedule because of side effects (liver injury).
An effective and safe alternative therapy is to use a nail fungus laser (diode laser). This laser beam completely penetrates the body of the nail and the tissue of the nail fold and heats the infected nail bed. Fungal spores absorb the energy of the laser and are destroyed. Therapy sessions have to be repeated at an interval of 4 to 6 weeks until the entire nail healthily grows out of the nail fold.
In his clinic in Bietigheim-Bissingen near Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg Dr. Kreisel offers therapy for nail mycosis using the nail fungus laser. Please contact us for more information.
